Our Commitment to Data Integrity
At NigeriaAnalytics, we believe that reliable insights are built on a foundation of credible data. Our platform is built on publicly available information from official government sources, together with established reporting where no official publication exists. We say below which is which.
Primary Data Sources
National Bureau of Statistics (NBS)
The NBS is the official statistical agency of Nigeria, responsible for the development and management of official statistics. We utilize NBS data for key economic indicators, including budget figures, debt profiles, inflation rates, and demographic information. Their rigorous data collection processes ensure a high degree of accuracy and reliability.
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
Election results and voter registration figures originate with INEC, the body responsible for overseeing elections in Nigeria. Where INEC has published a consolidated document — as it did for the 2019 presidential results, and for the register of voters and PVCs collected ahead of the 2023 general election — our figures are reconciled against it line by line. INEC has not published an equivalent document for every contest. Where it has not, figures are compiled from published reporting of the results INEC's collation officers declared, and cross-checked against national totals and against independent reports of the same declaration. Compiled figures are not presented as though they were published ones.
Debt Management Office (DMO)
Our debt management dashboards are populated with data from Nigeria's Debt Management Office. The DMO provides comprehensive information on the country's debt stock, including breakdowns by domestic and external lenders, debt service costs, and debt-to-GDP ratios.
Data Processing & Verification
While most of our data is sourced from official publications, we perform our own validation and cleaning processes to ensure consistency and prepare it for analysis and visualization. Our goal is to make this public data more accessible, interactive, and insightful for researchers, policymakers, students, and the general public. Where our checks show a figure disagrees with its source, we correct it toward the source; we do not adjust the underlying figures themselves.
